Big Title
- in smile of the day -2
...I sit
slowly,
with permission
next to her.
Our voices mingle with timid smiles, but I don't know what we say, really.
She is beautiful. And I try not to show it.
Then, I notice a smitten breeze slipping in to coax her sable hair into soft ebony dance. Of this breath,
I am not jealous, but grateful, as I look away to smile to myself.
She is beautiful, and I try not to know it.
When moments are complete, it is best to accompany them with the will of a child. For no life can be fulfilled without them. And God will ask if you noticed them.
And you must answer true.
Afar, a workman gruffs, forcing me to rise.
And as I see her move to rise up too, I extend my hand toward hers. She does not need it, but takes it with intimate nonchalance, and smiles to herself.
When God asks, I will say I noticed well.
